Buzz, Woody, Jessi, Hamm, Slinky Dog, Potato Head, Ari screamed out as they introduced all of the characters of Toy Story on Ice. Ari and Noah thoroughly enjoyed themselves watching the show. 3 years old is such a fun age because both boys have their own interests and things that they love.

It's great to see the accomplishments of individuals with Down Syndrome. It gives my family hope and it goes to show that when you have high expectations of your children, the possibilities are endless. I hope to see many more successes. It goes to show you that we are more alike than different.

Welcome Back Ari and Noah- 2012

It has been almost a year since I posted last. Life has become incredibly busy for all of us but one of my resolutions is to keep up on my blog. Ari and Noah just turned three in December and had their party at an indoor gym. The Mickey Mouse themed party was a lot of fun for both of the boys and their friends. We are very lucky to continue to have the boys attend UNLV Preschool because they have so many friends and great teachers there. Both boys just had their IEP (Individualized Education Plan) and Ari will be receiving speech services at UNLV and Noah was labeled developmentally delayed and is receiving special education services inside the classroom. Noah has made incredible growth in the past year and we are so proud of him. Our goal remains to not treat Noah any differently than we do Ari. Here are some of the boys highlights in the past year:

Ari Highlights:

Received a bicycle for his birthday and wants to learn how to ride
Loves to play basketball, soccer, and football
Enjoys reading books (Dr. Seuss), watch movies (Disney), and act like a goofball
Learning his ABC's, shapes, and numbers
Learned how to spell his name
Has picked up about 50 signs
Is almost Potty Trained

Noah Highlights:

Has started walking/running without any assistance
Loves to play basketball and shoot baskets
Plays with daddy's gadgets (iPad, Macbook, Playbook)

It's the last 2 days of January, where has the time gone. I have a ton of pictures and videos to post of Chanukah and the boys birthday. Noah and Ari are doing great and they are back at UNLV Preschool this Spring. Today is a beautiful day and decided to take the boys to Snips and Clips for haircuts. Usually they are not so great at getting haircuts but today they were relatively good.

Hannukah Present in November

Black Friday Madness has hit the Frydman Family. Several years back, I slept overnight in front of Best Buy to get the very best deals on Black Friday. Needless to say, I think I returned every item I bought. So I wasn't going to put myself through that again. I have been saving up a bunch of Best Buy gift certificates to buy a digital SLR Camera. I opted with the Canon Rebel EOS T2i. I am having fun just tinkering around with the camera.

I can't believe it is November already. In 3 weeks, Ari and Noah will be turning two. They are growing so fast. It's always difficult being away from family on Thanksgiving but we celebrated Thanksgiving at our good friend's house. We are very grateful for the Carmers for hosting our family.

Noah is an amazing little boy. Three months ago, he refused to put anything in his mouth, and now he loves putting things in his mouth. We are so proud of him.

Such a mischievous kid right there. Ari is always planning his next great adventure. He is getting so big and amazes us every day. I love watching Ari make Noah laugh. The bond they have is so strong.. I hope it lasts!

Huge Milestones

Have patience they say!! "He will walk eventually.. When he is good and ready, he will feed himself". Lauren and I hear this all the time but sometimes it's just downright discouraging. Well guess what?? Noah is GOOD and READY! Last night was a normal night for us, singing songs and eating spaghetti. Ari was signing for "more spaghetti" and Noah was flinging the spaghetti over his shoulder. Lauren assisted Noah with putting some food to his mouth. Then out of nowhere, Noah starting putting food in his mouth. He loved the spaghetti. We have been trying with whip cram, applesauce and pudding. But last night it was spaghetti and meat sauce. To some, this might not seem as big as it really is. I really can't explain it other than it's like hitting a home run for the first time, getting your first kiss, getting your first job, getting into college, etc... It's that big! Take a look at Noah with Ari encouraging him on.

Living with Reminders

I love this blog post from a blog called Big Blueberry Eyes. Many times we read about "feel good" stories about children with disabilities being allowed to play in a football, basketball, or baseball game at the very end of the game. Sometimes it bothers me because it seems like an act of pity. "Put in the Disabled Kid" and let him score a touchdown or let's hire an adult with Down Syndrome at the supermarket and let him bag the groceries. I feel that Noah and other children and adults with Down Syndrome could do so much more.

However, after reading the post and watching the video of Ike Ditzenberger, I realize it is about so much more. It is not a story about pitying Ike, but it is a story about compassion. Compassion coming from high school teenagers from the opposing football team. So much in the media is about bullying and not accepting people for their differences and this story shows the other side. It reminds us of the compassion of others. It is a reminder for me that Noah can do what ever he wants to do hopefully surrounded by the same compassion that was shown to Ike.

Pumpkin Picking

It was supposed to be a good day. After 2.5 hours of driving through Nevada and Arizona, we finally made it to Utah. Maybe Noah wasn't as excited as I was to go to a pumpkin patch. I reminisce about growing up in New York and going apple and pumpkin picking. I can't forget about the ice cold apple cider and tasty cinnamon donuts we used to have. However, it is possible he didn't enjoy his breakfast of warm, lumpy grits at the Cracker Barrel just before we arrived. But his face surely doesn't lie, he definitely was not happy sitting in the pumpkin patch today.

Although, after a few short minutes of being on the swing, he was my beautiful sweet Noah again. His smile is the best. It can lighten up any room. On my worst days, all I need is 5 minutes with Noah and I feel as though I had the greatest day in the world. And all he asks for is the obligatory "High 5".

He feels safest when he sits up on my shoulders, palms my bald head, and pinches my ears. Funny thing is that I feel safest these times too. I can't believe my sweet boy will be turning 2 in a couple of months. I know in a couple of years, he wont want to do this any more.

And then there is this monster!! Ari... He forced me to sing 5 little monkeys for the entire ride up to Utah. If I didn't sing it and do the hand motions, he would start squealing like a pig about to be slaughtered. Mr. independent wants to do everything himself; walk by himself, eat with a fork by himself, and obviously drive a tractor by himself. What's scary is that he actually looks like he has been doing this for a while.

After 2.5 hours of ear piercing squealing and whining, I have to say I wanted to throw him out the window. Although, all it takes is one sweet moment, and you forget about everything. I love how he crouches down and just hugs the pumpkin. Ari is such an amazing kid.

After a long day of hay rides, animal petting, and corn sliding, Ari got exactly what he wanted. A pumpkin just as perfect as he is. Granted, he will lose interest in the pumpkin even before we get home but that's not really the point.

The point is I have such amazing kids. I hope when they become teenage terrors (like I was), I will remember this day at the Pumpkin Patch.

Buddy Walk

This weekend was the Buddy Walk and unfortunately we were unable to make it because it fell out on Yom Kippur. However, we have raised about $3,000 for the Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada. Lauren is pretty amazing and planned a fundraising event at Mark Rich's Pizza and Pasta called Noah's Night Out. She set up silent auctions and raffle prizes. All of the money goes to the Down Syndrome Organization for therapies and services. Next year we are hoping that Noah will be walking and he will be able to walk across the finish line with his brother.

Ari and Noah are doing great at UNLV Preschool. Unfortunately, they have been sick lately with ear infections and viruses. There are 2 other children with Down Syndrome in their class. We are very lucky to have them in the school. I just hope Ari doesn't get kicked out.

Life has been really busy for both Lauren and I. Lauren has to drive the boys to preschool before work and I usually pick them up. Our evenings are filled with lots of therapies and meetings. I am trying to start up a D.A.D.S. (Dads Appreciating Down Syndrome) group in Las Vegas. They talked about it a little on a local morning show. You can click on the following link.

School has started and it has been a little crazy for all of the Frydmans. Ari and Noah are officially Runnin Rebels as they started UNLV Preschool. Noah got a bid to Alpha Epsilon Pi and Ari to Tau Kappa Epsilon. I hope they don't get hazed too bad. They forced Noah to guzzle apple juice out of a funnel and Ari had to hold his pee through out snack time.

Seriously, we are all about celebrating the small stuff. Noah just recently started pulling himself up to stand. After months of therapy and working on weight bearing, he is doing an awesome job. Next stop, standing unassisted. Sometimes it's difficult seeing all of these kids hit their milestones and Noah not showing progress. But once again, he will do it in his own time. Even though he is stubborn at times, he is the most sweet boy I have ever met.

Ari is doing great as well. He has been picking up on so many signs. Even though his vocabulary only consists of dada, we know once he gets it, he will never shut up.

The Happiest Place on Earth? Really?

This summer Lauren, the boys, and I were able to attend the National Down Syndrome Conference in orlando Florida. It was an amazing conference and met some great people. We were able to attend sessions related to physical therapy, speech, and reading. It was so great to be able to talk to other families with children with Down Syndrome. It also made us realize that other states offer so much more than what we have in Nevada. Moving might be in our future... Virginia, New York, Massachussetts??

Of course we went to Magic Kingdom one day. I really don't know how people can call Disney "The Happiest Place on Earth". Look around that place, you have crying kids, angry fathers and frustrated mothers. There is nothing to be happy about waiting 90 minutes for A Small World or paying $45.00 for a burger and soda. I am not even sure if Noah was awake for any of the trip (See pictures below). I will say that Ari loved Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy and I guess that made up for everything. He ran up to Minnie and kissed her nose. I think the next time you see me in Disney it should be with my grandchildren.

I am definitely not much of a blogger any more. Life has been insanely busy for us and I haven't really had a chance to write or post pictures. Let's see... What new things are Ari and Noah doing?

Busy Month For Us

It has been a very busy month for us. Ari is now walking everywhere and nothing is safe. Noah is doing very well with all of his therapies and he is coming along. I am now the Principal at a new school so I have been insanely busy with packing an unpacking. School is almost out and we are looking forward to a relaxing summer come July. We are also trying to get Ari and Noah into the UNLV Preschool program for the summer. Wish us luck.. It takes a while t get in the program.

It has been a very busy month for us Frydmans. Noah has been army crawling all around the house. Lauren and I are very busy with Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy appointments. Noah is progressing really well and we love when he does something new. Ari took his first steps today and we know that we are in trouble. We have to baby-proof everything now. I have been elected to the Board of Directors of the Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada. I am very excited to be part of this amazing organization and help out in any way I can. We can't wait to go to the Down Syndrome Conference in Orlando this summer.

Spring Break, Family, and the iPad

It has been a very busy week here. Mitch, Marcy, Bradley, and Lindsey came in for Spring Break. Brad turned 14 years old and we all went out to dinner at Musashi Japanese Restaurant. The food was great and we had someone watching the boys so we could eat in peace. Mitch and Marcy were staying at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino so we took the boys to the pool. Ari loves the bath tub and can't wait to get in every night. So logically we thought he would love the pool.. right? NOPE.. he cried the entire time. Noah didn't fare any better. Hopefully they will get used to it or it's going to be a long summer in Las Vegas.

The iPad came out this weekend and I went to Best Buy to see the new gadget. Although, I think there will be many uses in education for it, I really don't see the need to own one. I think Apple is still trying to figure out who is the consumer who is going to use it. I don't think someone who owns a smartphone and laptop really needs an iPad. It is very cool to read books, watch movies, and browse the internet but it's not a computer, it is an expensive gadget. Here are just a few shortcomings of the iPad:

No built in camera
You can not multi-task
No USB ports
Safari browser can not play flash
Expensive apps and books

This is not to say that I will not eventually buy one but hopefully Apple will take a look at these things. I think we will see iPads used in education for digital media and books.

Times Goes By Quickly

I can't believe it is already March. Ari and Noah are almost 15 months. They are no longer little babies, they are little boys. I realized, I haven't posted anything since the Yankees won the World Season and now it is Spring Training. Life has been crazy for all us. Between work, a new nanny, OT and PT appointments and regular life, it's hard to get anything accomplished. Most people want to know what's new with the boys.

Who is the cutest monkey and banana? Ari and Noah had a fun Halloween. We kind of felt silly taking our neighbors candy and saying it was for the kids. Lauren and I left out a bowl of candy and tested out the old "Honor System" of just take 1. 10 minutes later our candy was gone. Happy Halloween!!

Ari and Noah are getting so big. They just turned 10 months old. Ari is crawling all around the ground and getting into all sorts of trouble. He loves his Daddy's Blackberry and gadgets. Noah is turning from his back to his belly and he really wants to crawl. Lauren and I have been taking them to Gymboree and Baby Yoga. Baby Yoga consists of the lady tickling his toes and chanting the mantra "Ori Totori Hohum". Weird stuff but it's worth a shot. The boys are loving all of the October fun.

Buddy Walk - Down Syndrome Organization

Ever since we knew Noah had Down Syndrome, Lauren and I have been trying very hard to educate ourselves and be involved with the Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada. We have met so many great people and families through the organization. It's great to see children with Down Syndrome of all ages and it gives Lauren and I much hope for Noah in the future. I have no doubt that he will be a swimmer just like his daddy. One of the major fundraising events is the Buddy Walk. Both Noah and Ari have touched the lives of many of our family and friends, and through very generous donations, we raised $5,000 for the Down Syndrome Organization. Life has been so crazy, and I don't get to blog too much anymore. This is my 3rd year as principal and you would think that the job would get a bit easier. Maybe year 4... I have a whole slew of pictures of Ari and Noah so I want to post some of them. Lauren and I got to go back to Cleveland and see our friend Chris get married. It also gave us a couple of days to hang out with Lauren's family, niece, and nephew. They are so great with the boys. Sometimes I think that I would like to move closer to family but there is no way we would ever move to Cleveland. They have a crappy baseball team and a crappy football team. So we are staying in Vegas for the time being.

Summer vacation has gone by quickly. I will be back at work on August 1st. Over the summer we went to Phoenix, AZ. It was about 115 degrees everyday. We took tons of pictures of the boys in the pool but we lost our camera. Other than that, my mom came into town for a week to hang out with the boys and I celebrated my 37th birthday. Lauren bought me a Flip video camera, so I have been playing with that. I have posted a couple of videos of the boys.

Father's Day was such a good day. We took the boys to Boulder City to walk around and eat breakfast at Coffee Cup. Boulder City is such a fun place to go and the boys chugged down their bottles there. We then went to a friend of ours house to have a barbeque and hang out with her twin boys. They turned 3 months just recently. Finally, we ate Pizza at the Kirsh's house in the evening. The boys were pooped. For Father's Day, I got this cool shadow box thing with the Ari and Noah's feet in it. I can't really explain, but it looked like this. Very creative.. Lauren is the best when making celebrations fun.

Busy Week

It's been a pretty busy week with hiring teachers, organizing my office and helping my school make Adequate Yearly Progress. Noah went to physical therapy yesterday and the therapist said Noah is doing great. He has been trying to hold his head up for extended periods of time. It is very difficult to get him to smile, so when we capture a good picture we are very excited. I can't wait till July when I have off and Lauren still has to work. All of the rules are out the window for July. Lauren doesn't like how I change diapers, pick up the boys, and clean baby bottles. In July, Ari and Noah wont even wear diapers. It will Be Daddy Time.

My Saturdays used to consist of watching baseball, drinking beer, and going out to dinner. Our lives of changed just a bit. Saturdays now all about making Lauren breakfast while she double feeds the boys, a long walk around the park and then Gymboree. We are spending the beautiful weekend just relaxing with the boys. Many people have asked for updated photos and info about Ari and Noah. So I will tell you what I know. I think they are around 12 lbs now and I have no clue how long they are (I'm not sure why that's important anyway). They are sleeping through the night which gives Lauren and I some sleep time. Ari loves sleeping on his tummy and Noah is a squirmy little boy. On Saturdays they go to Gymboree and then we all have Cherry Limeades at Sonic. Have a Happy Memorial Day!!

It was 97 degrees in Vegas today so there isn't much to do here other than gamble or go in the pool. After they kicked the boys out of the casino we decided to take a dip in the pool. Lauren thinks they might be a little young to go swimming but if Ari and Noah are going to be Olympic swimmers, they need to start young.

Who needs a thumb when I have 2 fingers...

It has been very difficult updating the blog between work and Ari and Noah. Lots has happened in the past month. Noah and Ari are now 3.5 months old. Ari is weighing about 10.6 lbs and Noah is weighing about 9.4. lbs. Uncle Seth came into town on business and spent a couple of nights with the boys. My mom also came in for a long weekend to fill her baby void as well. She got to take them to physical and music therapy.

Shortly after, we all went to Chicago for our nephew's Brad's Bar mitzvah. It was quite an experience traveling with 2 infants and all of their gear. However, the boys were perfect and they slept most of the way. Note to self: Do not schedule a layover with 2 babies. Thank goodness because I definitely didn't want to be That Guy with the screaming babies on the plane. We stayed with our friends Paula and Dennis in Chicago. Their children Josh and Deena kept the boys entertained for the entire time. Even though Deena is 6, she is probably the best babysitter ever.

Marcy, Mitch, Brad, and Lindsay (Lauren's sister and co.) came in for Spring Break. We got to celebrate Brad's birthday at Tao. Hopefully we will get to see my nephews Jake and Ryan soon. Maybe a short trip to New York is in order. Ari and Noah should see the new Yankee Stadium.

Lauren goes back to work next week and we will be celebrating Passover with Lauren's parents in Vegas. For anyone waiting for a thank you card, we (I mean Lauren) is writing cards now. We will be taking the obligatory 2 year Twin Rule to send thank you cards.

Things have been going pretty good for both Noah and Ari. Noah is very easy going and can fall asleep anywhere. Ari is a little bit more fussy and it is very difficult for him to fall asleep. He is one colically baby. Everyone has some idea of how to cure colic: try putting him on the dryer, wrap him real tight, go for a drive, get a white noise machine, put him in the oven. We have tried everything and he is just an uncomfortable baby. We hopefully will figure something out soon because we aren't getting much sleep with him.

Long Over Due Update

Everyone keeps on haranging me to update the blog. Life has become unusually busy for Lauren and me. We are trying to figure everything out. In the last 3 weeks, much has happened. We have had plenty of visitors from out of state. Lauren's mom came in right after Lauren gave birth to help Lauren and I with everything and her dad and sister flew in a couple of weeks later. Her brother Seth doesn't really care about the boys, so I doubt we will ever see him. Just joking Seth. My parents, my brother, and sister came for a short visit to spend time with Ari and Noah. Our good friends from New York, Mike and Stacy also flew in for a couple of days. It was great to have all of the extra hands helping out.

The boys also had their schmeckels cut off. This was only fair because Noah is unusually large to begin with. Now both him and Ari have the same size. The Bris was a pretty traumatic experience for Ari and still cries when we change his diaper. I believe he is suffering from Post Traumatic Stress.

But all is well and I have taken a couple of weeks off to spend time with Lauren and the boys. We have been trying to get the boys out of the house when we can. Today we took both boys to Physical Therapy and Music Therapy. They are extremely gifted already. Ari is weighing about 7 pounds and Noah weighs in at a cool 6.5 pounds. The boys have changed so much already and below are many pictures from the past several weeks.

After 3 weeks and 4 days in the NICU, both Ari and Noah are finally home. Technically, Lauren wasn't due until January 24th. Although both Lauren and I are exhausted, we are very excited to have them in the same place again. We took Noah to the pediatrician yesterday, and they said he is very healthy and there are no issues to worry about right now. We take them both back to the doctor on Monday.

Lots of family should be coming in soon for the Bris of both boys. We think the Bris will be on Friday, January 23rd. We are excited for our families to meet both boys for the first time.

Lauren and I are happy to say that Ari tested negative for Hirshsprungs Disease. They are chalking up his swollen tummy and enlarged colon to gas. So he is slowly increasing his food intake and we are hoping to have him join Noah at home soon. Noah is doing great at home and sleeps a whole bunch. I took him out yesterday for a little fresh air around the block. He slept through his first trip outside of the house. It's a little bit hectic running from the hospital to work to home and back. Thank goodness for Lauren's mom watching Noah at times so Lauren and I can see Ari.

I'm not going to pretend to know anything about fatherhood. Very far from it.. But if I can impart some wisdom on new fathers it would be this. When putting on a diaper, make sure your son's "thing" is pointing down. We celebrated Ari's excellent lab results with a lot of pee on my shirt.

Noah Comes Home!!

Lauren and I are so excited that we were allowed to take Noah home today. It took us totally by surprise. In our wildest dreams we never thought Noah would come home before Ari. Good news about Ari, the nurse allowed me to feed him a little bit of milk. This was his first real meal in a couple of days. We still won't know anything before Monday.

Noah is the sweetest, most beautiful little boy in the world (tied with Ari). The nurse said that he is extremely healthy and for a premature baby he no issues right now. It will be a little bit difficult running back and forth but I can't tell you how happy we are. The Frydman's never take an easy route to anything. We are very difficult. We just want to thank all of our family and friends who have thought about us during this time.

After an amazing night last night with both boy in a private room, we got some bad news today. Ari's stomach appeared distended and after taking X-rays his colon was unusually enlarged. One of the surgeons thought he had Hirschsprung's Disease. So they put him back in an Isolator and put a feeding tube in his nose and and IV in his arm. Poor Noah seems lonely without his brother. Tomorrow they will do a biopsy on Ari's colon. Lauren and I went to the hospital at 5:30 and his swollen tummy went down. So that is good news.

Rooming In

My mom gets upset when I don't update this blog on a regular basis. I went back to work today so it's going to be difficult to update regularly. Too much work to get done. My brother Paul left Las Vegas late last night and it was great to have him here. He bought the boys some NY Yankees clothes to ensure that they are going to be fans. That is not a question.

So it's 1:30 a.m. and Lauren and I got to "room in" with both Noah and Ari. They took the boys out of the NICU and put them in a private room with us. I guess this is like a trial run to see if Lauren and I can actually take care of them like "normal parents." I think they are more worried about me than Lauren. I think if Ari can take all of his feedings then they might let him home very soon.. Maybe tomorrow. They both took the 8:30 and the 11:30 feedings like champs. It will be nice to have them home. I have to wake up in an hour for the 2:30 feeding so I going to go to sleep.

Uncle Paul flew into Vegas today to see Ari and Noah. Both Lauren and I were excited to see him hoping he would change diapers. However, Paul felt he has changed his share of diapers and no longer does that sort of thing. I ask you, if someone went up to Ron Guidry and asked him to pitch one more inning, do you think he would? Hell yes... But my brother opted out. How sad...

The latest good news is that Noah peed on Lauren today. I think the score is Mommy-3 and Daddy-2 Both boys are gaining weight. Ari weighs just a bit over 5lbs and Noah weighs 4lbs 10 oz. We brought in our car seats and they tested both boys in the seats. They also did hearing screenings on both boys. Ari also doesn't have a feeding tube in his nose. Our guess is that Ari should be coming home before the end of next week. Bad news is that both boys won't be able to share the same crib. I'm sure it will be interesting having one son in the hospital and the other one at home.

Ari and Noah have been doing really well. They are both eating and gaining weight. Lauren and I think Ari could be coming home very soon. He has been taking most of his bottle wthout the feeding tube. I'm sure it's going to be difficult having one baby at home and the other one at the hospital.

Today we got to bathe Ari. He is such a natural in the water. I guess he takes after his father. He will be doing the back stroke before you know it. Watch out Brad.. He loved the water and didn't even cry. Noah did just as well in the water.

It's pretty amazing how quick this year went. Who knew by this time we would have two amazing sons. We are hoping for a great 2009. Lauren and I would just be happy having both Noah and Ari home as soon as possible. Ari has been consistently gaining weight and this morning weighed 4lbs 10 oz. Noah weighs a little less at 4lbs 5 oz. However both boys have been feeding much better. Ari and Noah have been getting tons of visitors. Usually the question is "Are you David's sister? Are you Lauren's dad?" Our families will be out shortly. Uncle Paul will be coming in on Sunday. We will most likely be spending New Years in the hospital with both of the boys. Hopefully the boys will be drunk on breast milk.

I think the most emasculating thing for a dad is to carry around his wife's diaper bag. First, you can't go out with the guys and now you have to carry a women's diaper bag. What's the world coming to. However, I have found a great website called DadGear that carries all guys gear. I bought a Diaper Vest with pockets and cool guy stuff.

Noah and Ari finally get to sleep in the same crib in the hospital. They are very excited! Noah no longer has to bake in the Isolator. I think at times he misses the warm climate but soon enough it will be 115 in Vegas and he will have his fair share of heat. Over the weekend the boys got a visit from Scott and Barb Ober (their Vegas Grandparents). They brought over tons of Chanukah presents for the boys from them and their kids. Thanks Lindsey and Dave. However, a true Diaper Genie would get rid of the dirty diaper as well. We are very lucky to have such good family and friends who have done so much for us already. Many have cooked us meals, cleaned our house, and bought gifts for the boys. My brother comes in next week to visit the boys and we are all excited for him to be here.

So for the 5th night of Chanukah, Ari received a brand new crib. He is no longer going to be residing in the incubator. This is a step up for my little man but it won't be as warm as his past residence. It's like moving from Vegas to Southern California. As for Noah, he is staying in Vegas for a bit more. He will move once he can maintain his body temperature. More good news is that the boys have gained weight for the 2nd day in the room. Although both Lauren and I are very positive, the couple next to us are allowed to take home their daughter after 2.5 months. We really hope we don't have to wait that long.

4th Night of Chanukah

Happy Chanukah and Merry Christmas. We spent most of our time in the hospital yesterday. The boys are doing better and have gained more weight. However, Lauren and I have a feeling that they will be in the hospital longer than we initially anticipated. For those waiting on knowing when the Bris is, the Mohel said he doesn't even consider a bris before the babies are 5.5 lbs. The boys are a little over 4lbs now.

Camp NICU

Lauren and I visited Ari and Noah at Camp NICU again. At Camp NICU the boys get to poop, sleep, poop, get held, poop, get fed, poop, get light therapy and poop.

Today the boys had a feeding tube stuck in their noses again. We were a bit bummed because yesterday they had them taken out. But I guess they have been fussy eaters. By the end of the night though, they had gained a couple of ounces. So that's really good news. Today was a lot of holding both Ari and Noah, feeding them, and changing them.

Lauren and I made it to the hospital
at 5:30 am and fed the boys. I took Lauren home and went to work. Met Lauren at the hospital at 11:30 and then stayed to 5:00. Then went home and back to the hospital at 8:30. Good times.... We talked with the Occupational Therapist today to discuss different ways to assist Noah. The first thing is to love him so much. How couldn't you? We are hoping to see the feeding tube gone tomorrow...

Released!

Lauren was finally released from the hospital today. She is feeling good and recovered pretty quickly. This whole breast feeding thing is great. Lauren went from a C cup to like a DDD (She's going to be so angry that I'm putting this on the blog). She is also one mean milk making machine.

Noah who takes after his proud papa is a boob man. He loves breast feeding but not so much on the bottle. We are hoping they take out the IV in his head tomorrow. Ari is off of his IV and is feeding well also. He doesn't love the boob as much as his brother.

I went back to work today since there is not much I can do at home. Without students or teachers, I can get a lot of work done. When the boys get out, I plan on taking a couple of weeks with them. I also joined the Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada.
They prepared a basket of stuff for Noah as well as information. As soon as we can we will begin early intervention for Noah. I will probably volunteer for the organization as well. They do a lot for families who have Down Syndrome children.

Since we have probably 2 weeks before Noah and Ari come home that will give Lauren and I time to finish getting the house ready for children. Thanks to my brother and sister in-law, we have a car seat. We are waiting on a second one to come as well.

Lauren and I got to spend the 2nd night of Chanukah with the boys. Not to sound cliche or anything but they are definitely 2 of the best presents I have ever received. Besides from the socks and the argyle sweater my mom
gets me every year.. Happy Chanukah.....

We really didn't get a chance to celebrate Chanukah so our friends the Obers gave us a plate of latkes and chanukah treats. Thanks Scott and Barb. Our two boys are getting stronger every day. They are pretty much eating on their own without any feeding tube. Lauren is trying to master the art of breast feeding. I on the other hand is still trying to master putting on a premie diaper. Noah has been getting light therapy and gets to wear some eyewear under the french fry lamps. We are loving our boys more and more every day. Lauren gets released tomorrow, so we have lots to do to get ready for noah and Ari. We were quite unprepared when Lauren's water broke.

First Chanukah in Vegas

Tonight was the boys first Chanukah. We didn't really plan that they would be here for this Chanukah. But now I don't have to give Lauren presents on Night 1 and Night 2 of Chanukah. Ari and Noah are her presents. We had our own virtual menorah on the iTouch. I'm not sure if the boys truly appreciated it. Lauren gave both Ari and Noah their first present... Breast Milk. They finally latched on... Nice..

Oh yeah.. if you are planning on getting the boys any type of presents, I want to make myself totally clear. Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians memorabilia will not be accepted. Do you hear that Mitch.. Don't try to sneak anything in.

Farted

Big news.. Lauren passed the gas. She is feeling so much better. I too have been known to pass the gas. We call that sympathy pains. I have been at the hospital all day so I will post pictures later. Tomorrow Lauren gets to leave and go home. Yeah.. She started pumping non-fat milk. But the doctor wants her to go to 2%.
Ari and Noah are doing great. I got back to the hospital last night at 2:00am. Lauren's mom flew in and is staying at our house I got to feed Noah and change his diaper. That kid took the biggest poop. He lost like 2 lbs after the poop. He actually won a trophy for the poop. Biggest Poop in the NICU. I know I'm 36 but I still love talking about poop. Anyway, Ari and Noah are feeding on some breast milk and formula. They eat like champs.

By the way, my mother in law seems to think that Ari and Noah are going to have Cleveland Indians attire. I'm am declaring right now: DO NOT buy Cleveland Indians attire. I saw Ari and Noah's blood. Ari and Noah both bleed Yankee Pinstripe

Just wanted to add photos of our beautiful boys. Today Lauren and I got to hold them and kiss them and love them. It's truly an unbelievable experience. I changed Noah today and he had this black, tarry, poop that clung to his ball-sac (sorry to be so graphic). But it took like 11 Wetones to get that stuff off. you could spackle your walls with that stuff. Anyway, he also pissed on me. That was my Golden Shower Initiation. Ahh.. Just another day in the hospital. The boys are doing well and we got to see them this morning. I still haven't seen Noah open his eyes. But they both look sweet sleeping. We found out Noah has Down Syndrome so we have been looking at support groups in Vegas. But the nurses here have been amazing.

I am blogging from my Blackberry in the hospital. Today, Lauren woke up at 5:20 am and wanted me to look at the puddle on the floor. At 5:20 in the morning, I really don't want to look at anything. But she thought her water broke. I, as a caring husband assured her that her water DID NOT break. How could it, we still have 2 weeks left to get things ready. So I casually took a shower and shaved and figured I would be going into work a bit late.

Surprise!!! They nurses told her that her water has ruptured and they will be performing a C-Section at about 11:00 am. Wish us luck.

Lauren and I have decided on names. Since Lauren vetoed Jeter, Munson, and Winfield, we went with Ari and Noah. We weren't sure if people would know they were Jewish by their last name NOW you really know. Lauren is 34 weeks pregnant and looking great. She will definitely be getting a C-Section. This is great news because now I don't have to buy her a "Push Prize". I don't think she will go past 37 weeks. Yikes..

Last week we met with the Mohel for the Bris. His slogan was "Buy 1, get 1 Half off." I just hope it's not Noah who gets it half off. I did ask the Mohel to be fair with the boys. If Ari is more well endowed then I want a little more taken from him. I want them starting out with equal size. This will keep them on an even playing field when they are 16.

Snow in Vegas

It's been a long time since I have posted. But once again life has been hectic. Lauren is getting very close to the day. She is 34 weeks pregnant this week. I will post pictures of the ultrasound and other pictures. Yesterday, was an amazing day in Vegas. It snowed about 2-3 inches and Jackson was beside himself. I think this was his first snow in Vegas. Jackson is definitely a desert dog.

Why Jewish Men Should Not Try To Assemble Cribs

You would think that putting together a crib would be a pretty simple task. I read Building a Crib for Dummies and watched a video on YouTube. I don't think you are allowed to put anything in the babies room until they are born but I need to be just a little bit prepared. Lauren is 28 weeks pregnant and who knows when she will go on bed rest.

I called my friend Kelly over to help put together the cribs. He is from Minnesota or North Dakota or one of those inbred states. He was able to put together one crib in about 45 minutes. He told me that I should try to do the next one myself. Jewish men are good at many things like arguing, stating our opinion, calling a handyman BUT actually putting things together we are not. It took me like 48 hours and I had to disassemble it like 8 times because I put things on backwards. However, it looks sort of safe and if you don't move the crib, it won't collapse.

Two Little Rump Roasts

So another month has gone by and Lauren is getting more pregnant by the hour. She keeps on telling me how uncomfortable she is and how it is difficult to move around. It's not that I don't believe her but I think it's a bit exaggerated. I have been reading and the book says that our twins are about the size and weight of a rump roast. One, what the hell is a rump roast? Two, I am an empathetic guy. So I went to the market and purchased 2 roasts and started running around the market with it. It's not uncomfortable, and I'm pretty quick. I think I would do fine pregnant.

Lauren is going through a "nesting" phase now. That means she goes through all of my crap and throws it away. She found my Flowbee, and got rid of it. There's a chance that my hair might grow back and I won't have anything to trim it. I don't think I like this

whole nesting thing.

Last week Lauren went to the doctor and the babies look healthy. This was the first time that I wasn't able to go. I was a little bit bummed. But here are some of the ultrasounds.

We still have so much to get done and time is running out. Lauren went to register last weekend with a friend. She asked me if I wanted to go but I told her that I rather have a bikini wax than registering. I walked into Babies R US one time and that place is brutal. Did you know that there are like 30 different type of bottle nipples? My kids are going to kick it old school like I did. They are going to drink out of an apple juice can with a home made nipple. I turned out fine..

In 2 Months A Lot Can Happen!!

Just 2 months ago Lauren, was barely showing. Now take a look at her. To clear up a few things, we are not having triplets. I figured if I convinced myself that I was having triplets then actually having twins wouldn't seem so bad.

The little ones were measured today and they are weighing about 1.5lbs. Lauren has been complaining a lot lately. I read that our two babies are about the size of a rootbeer bottle. So I carried 2 rootbeer bottles with me for a day and it wasn't really that bad. I'm not sure what she is complaining about. Seriously, they have been kicking a lot lately and we think it's Baby A. They are both healthy and the doctor said that their penis sizes are in the 95 percentile. I am very proud.

Lauren is getting very upset with me that I am writing nonsense but I actually have a couple of minutes to myself. We have been looking at cribs and bedding for the cribs. It's pretty obscene how expensive everything costs. I ask you if babies could sleep in a pack and play downstairs then seriously why can't we buy 2 of them and have them sleep in those. Once again, I should chalk that up to "Things you dont say to a pregnant woman."

And then there is the "Push Prize". What woman came up with that? You don't know what that is?? Yeah.. me either.. but I guess Lauren deserves a prize for pushing 2 things out of her body. Does she still get it if she get's a C-section? A friend of mine said that she would probably like diamonds. Why is it that diamonds are a girl's best friend? What is a man's best friend?? Yup.. a dog. Hardly seems fair. But then my friend reminded me that men don't push 2 watermelons out of our private areas. Soo.. Lauren deserves a nice present. I was thinking some plasma-ish but I will probably go with jewelry.

Long Time ...Triplets!!

It's been a very long time since I blogged. But we found out today that we are actually having triplets. This was news to us as well. We will probably have to move and get a bigger house. Lauren has gained 50 lbs already and the doctor thinks she will gain another 25 lbs with triplets. I think I will most likely have to pick up another job just to pay for daycare. Lauren and I threw around the idea of me staying home for a year to care for them.

What do all of these things have in common? In 4 months my house will be full of all of those things. Instead of being blessed with 2 sweet, little, princesses, Lauren and I are going to have 2 boys. We are stoked...

Today we went to the doctor to find out the sex of the 2 beings that have taken over Lauren's body. I told the ultrasound technician to seal the sex of the babies in an envelope. I then went to Babies R Us and picked out 2 girl outfits and 2 boy outfits. I had the checkout lady look at the envelope and wrap up the gift of what we were having. At dinner, Lauren and I unwrapped the gift.

A small part of me wanted to have a cute baby girl but I am excited I now will have camping and Scuba companions. All I know is Lauren is in trouble. That's a lot of penises running around our house soon.

Bumps in the Road

I had to do a presentation to my staff this week. I named the slide "Bumps in the Road" to discuss the upcoming difficulties at the school. So Lauren was a sport and allowed me to use her. Lauren's belly is beginning to get hard but she hasn't felt any fluttering yet. She attended her first Mom's with Multiples meeting. Interesting stuff... So Lauren has been so forgetful lately. She'll call me to tell me something important and then totally forget what she had to say. She told me that she has "Momnesia". What kind of crap is that? Is it real? Because I misplace everything and am so forgetful. Is there a word for that?

Today, was the first day back for teachers and it was a long and grueling day. Students start back on Monday. Good stuff..

Lauren Ate A Lot of Pizza

Lauren sure has let herself go. She ate alot of pizza and drank 9 beers tonite and is sporting a big old beer gut. Seriously, she is entering her 17th week tomorrow. All is swell and we get to find out the sex of the baby (I mean babies) on August 27th. We are very excited. I have to say that its getting more exciting.

Stupid Questions

For our last day of vacation before I had to go back to work, Lauren and I stayed at the Mandalay Bay. I am notorious for going to buffets by myself and Lauren pretty much hates them. But I was thinking to myself that how am I going to go to a buffet by myself when I have kids. So I asked Lauren if it's okay when you go to a buffet to leave your baby at the table. She got really red in the face and didn't say anything. Then I was wondering if you could ask the guy sitting next to you to watch your kids while you grab a plate of crab. Basically she told me to stop asking stupid questions... Was that a yes or no?

No.. Lauren is not pointing to her pregnant boobs but her new shirt from the company 2Chix. Today Lauren is going to the doctor for a checkup to make sure all is good. She is 14 weeks pregnant and starting to show. Other than that, we have been soaking up our last days of vacation. I go back to work on August 1st and Lauren starts her new job on August 20th. My friend Ron bought a Wii and I think I am addicted. I was thinking about buying one but then I realized I would be pretty unproductive.

13th Week and counting..

So we came back from Aruba and we had an amazing time. I will post pictures of Scuba diving and other pictures. My in-laws got caught smuggling in carrots into the country and were fined $300.. No Joke.. You can get a lot of money for carrots on the black market..

So Lauren and I are in San Diego to continue our vacation. When everyone says "Get it in now", "You're life will never be the same", and "You two will never remember life without kids", we got scared and started booking more vacations. We went to the doctor yesterday and had more ultrasounds taken. What an amazing thing to see your unborn child suck his or her thumb and move around. I might have teared up just a little bit. I think the last time I teared up was when I watched the ending of Thelma and Louise (It's a sad movie I tell you). So the ultrasound technician thought she might have seen a stub on one of the twins and said that we might have a boy. I highly doubt that though!! No son of mine would have just a stub at 13 weeks. We Frydman's don't have stubs..

It was about 111 degrees today and Jackson was just chillen and texting using his Blackberry. He will have to teach my 2 kids how to text. Lauren and I will be on vacation for the next 10 days. First we will be spending 3 days at the Red Rock Hotel & Casino and then a week in Aruba. We will be meeting up with Lauren's brother and family, parents, and some people I don't know. My goal is to get very drunk and get Lauren pregnant. Seriously, I hope to Scuba and relax.

If one of the babies is a girl, I am going to name her Blythe. She is going to be named after the first sound I hear every morning from Lauren "BLAAAAAAAAAAAAH". I always wanted to date a super model and with the amount Lauren throws up, I feel like I am.

Lauren hates me taking these pictures but that's what a 10 week tummy with 2 fetuses inside looks like. We have officially gone from embryos to fetuses or fetii. I told her I will take before and after pictures of my growth as well. My goal is to gain twice as much weight as Lauren. How am I doing?

9 Weeks Pregnant

Today we saw and heard the heartbeat of the 2 babies. It's amazing how big they have gotten in 2 weeks. Lauren and I decided that because it's going to be so tough raising 2 kids that I will raise one and she will raise the other. After 18 years, we will see which one is better off.

The Fountain Jet Home Soda Maker From Soda-Club

I endured an hour presentation on soft water softeners to get a free soda maker. Basically, I don't have to buy soda anymore I can make it in my house. Lauren, tells me I have to get rid of another gadget before I can put this one on the counter. I can get rid of the Twinkie Maker, Snow Cone Maker, Iced Tea Maker, Bloomin Onion Maker or the juice extractor. All I do know is that I can start make fresh Chocolate Egg Creams.

Breast Feeding

Our friends called us today and told us that we need to relish spontaneity because in 8-months there will not much of that to go around. So we met them at the pool and hung out for a bit. Afterwards we went to a Baby Expo to see all the latest baby gadgets. So there was this woman talking to Lauren and I and telling us that we need to keep the placenta and dry it up and crush it into a capsule for Lauren to injest after she gives birth. Can you say ... FREAK!! Anyway, the baby she was holding was being fussy and in one motion she whips out her breast in front of Lauren and I and starts breast feeding the baby fully exposed. Now, I'm a pretty easy going, liberal guy but that was a little much for me. First I need to dry out Lauren's placenta and have her take it and then I have to be subjected to a National Geographic baby feeding. Well I tried to maintain eye contact but when there is a breast fully exposed you definitely have to take a peek.

Happy Father's Day

Today I woke up and Lauren made me chocolate chip pancakes in bed. Not being a father yet, I didn't really see the need for pancakes and a card. But, who can say no to chocolate chip pancakes and a sweet card. This will be the last Father's Day to roll around that I won't have 2 kids around the house. That's a little weird. We haven't really thought of names for the babies but my nephew Bradley has been working on it for us. After hours of intense thinking he came up with Brendan Lewis. Not bad I guess, but I think he still needs to work on it.

Lauren really hates this whole blogging thing. She hates when I take pictures of her belly and when I write things. I figured if people want to know what is going on then they could read it. I definitely think it will be very cool to see her become bigger and bigger as the pregnancy progresses.

This is not really Lauren's dad. But since Ron's daughter is going to be going to college at American University, he needs a surrogate daughter. All I need to know about Ron is that he is a New York Yankees fan.

We went to Brianna's graduation party last night. She will be attending American University next year.

Raises could become hot potato - Las Vegas Sun

Teachers in Las Vegas were supposed to be receiving a 4% raise come July. I really don't think that will happen. Due to the housing market and the lack of state revenue they need to look for additional cuts for the following year. According to a letter sent by the Superintendent (you can read it here), they are looking to possibly cut back class sizes, administrative positions, support staff, etc.. That means Lauren possibly will be going back to the classroom and I have the possibility of losing my assistant principal. It's amazing to me that a couple of years ago when the state, casinos, housing developers and businesses were making a lot of money that no raises were given to teachers. We might have to look for another place to live if it gets really bad. Maybe Texas?

Today Lauren and I went to the doctor to make sure we are not having 3 kids. Thank goodness we are not. But she did see 2 healthy babies. They look like little beans to me right now. The doctor said that they look healthy and big considering how early it is.

7 Weeks Pregnant

Lauren is officially 7 weeks pregnant. The hormones are officially kicking in - Big Time!! She has been feeling nauseous every morning and has resorted to sniffing lemons in the middle of the night. Yeah!! no clue who gave her that piece of wisdom. Today, I walked into the guest room and she was crying uncontrollably watching MTV Made. It was about an ugly girl who wants to become a model and I still have no clue why she was crying about that. Anyway, I figure there is a lot that I wont understand or comprehend.
Today, I also bought a huge box of diapers. Why? I have no clue, I just want to be prepared. But when I walked down the baby aisle in the supermarket (an aisle, I have never been down before in my life, I knew I am totally unprepared for what is going to happen to us in 8 months. There were about 7 different brands and all different sizes. What happened to one size fits all? I opted for the Pampers Swaddlers and it cost like $27.00. Still, I have no clue what a swaddler is but I feel good that I braved the baby aisle. Anyway, here is what the twins might look like. They look like tiny tadpoles. We will be going to the doctor on Tuesday and we might get ultrasound pictures.

Look Out First Grade Here We Come!!

Today was the last day of school for the year. It is crazy that I have been a principal for a year and a half. We have worked hard to make some good changes for next year. We were able to get school uniforms passed for next year as well as securing a grant to get a digital marquee built for the school. Also, I am hoping we will be off all of the state's low achieving schools list. We showed 27% gain in 5th grade math and 12% gain across the board. It was fun to watch the kindergarten students learn how to read and write and move on to first grade. Ahhh, summer break!!

New Job for Lauren

Lauren will no longer be an Ober Achiever. She just got hired as an Elementary School Counselor at Kay Carl Elementary School. Great news!!! She was ready for a change and now she will be working at a year round school making more money. Also we can take vacations whenever we want to, not just in the summer. Although, I will be watching the babies in the month of July by myself. So if anyone wants to come out to Vegas in July 2009, I will pay your room and board. I need a hot nanny or something. Lauren and I will also be working in the same region so we might see each other at district meetings. Kay Carl's mascot is the giraffe. Actually my school lost the soccer championship to Kay Carl Elementary this year. Hopefully we will do better next year.

6 Weeks

I had to buy a new camera because it was stolen in Cleveland in November by an airline employee. I didn't tip the curbside check in lady because she was rude. So I think she stole my camera. Just another reason to hate Cleveland I guess. Although, they sure do have great ice cream. So I bought a Canon PowerShot. I told Lauren that it would be so cool if I could take pictures of her belly every week. She definitely didn't share my enthusiasm. She thought it was pretty stupid. Although I was able to have her take a few pictures. You can't see much yet, but I guess soon we will.

Holy shit, now what?... Be careful for what you wish for. So we are now having twins. The doctor was so proud, Lauren was so excited, and I was so.. so.. Not exactly sure. I had images of twice the amount of diapers, wet wipes, doo doo, daycare. And ofcourse I am thinking if Lauren and I could actually do this. I know there are people that do this type of thing all of the time but when you hear you are going to have twins that doesn't really enter your mind. So ofcourse I am nervous and excited all at the same time. Lauren wants to buy me books and attend classes. But I spoke with my brother and he says just to enjoy the moment and don't over think things. Really?? David.. the king of over thinking. In the mean time though, we know Lauren is due January 24, 2009. That is close to my nephew Jake's birthday. It's weird because my online time now has changed from viewing sites like Woot to sites like Babystrology. But here is what the embryo's could look like. It truly is amazing that something like that will be a baby in 8 months.

I figured blogging would be a good way to chronicle everything going on in our lives or at least my head. After trying for a while to get pregnant, Lauren and I decided to try insemination. The premise of insemination is to wash the sperm to keep only the good ones. We figured we would go through that whole procedure and if it didn't work we would try invitro. Well, on Mother's Day Lauren took an at home pregnancy thiga-majiger and it said she was pregnant. She was so excited because she never saw one of those before. It always would give her the - sign. Pretty depressing every month I tell you. Lauren also knew that it could be a false positive. However, 2 days later, the doctor confirmed she was pregnant. Lauren was super excited and so was I. I definitely had my worries. But I guess everyone goes through that. We told Lauren's parent right away and figured we would wait to tell my parents because we would be seeing them in Palm Springs a few days later. I wanted to do something funny to tell them that they were going to be grandparents. Maybe take a picture of a bagel in the oven "bun in the oven". However, I decided to buy a jar of Prego and write on it "We're Prego". So we wrapped up the jar and when we were in Palm Springs we gave it to my mom. She didn't understand why I was giving her a jar of tomato sauce. I had to explain PREGO!! get it.. Pregnant. Ohh well, my humor once again wasted.
